(BASTROP) During this season of giving, people are presented with many opportunities to give back in a special way. Just down the road between Taylor and Elgin sits Down Home Ranch serving adults with varying intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Ranch, located on 410 acres, depends upon volunteers' time and money to fulfill their mission of empowering the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by using a working farm and ranch model to facilitate the programming, providing paying jobs for the Ranchers and raising much needed funds by selling the products they raise, grow, create, and produce.
This time of year brings people to the ranch to select and purchase poinsettias, the top-selling product produced at Down Home Ranch. (BASTROP) Downtown Bastrop is decked out with Christmas spirit. Families stroll in the evenings by the twinkling lights of Main Street and the Fisherman’s Park River Walk to capture that Christmas cheer brightly lit along the paths or even to take in the Christmas pageant chaos at The Best Christmas Pageant Ever performed at The Bastrop Opera House. But it’s Saturday, Dec. 14 that will draw people of all ages to the Historic Downtown Bastrop for an entire day of Christmas cheer starting with the Historical Homes Tour and ending in the evening with the Lighted Christmas Parade.

(BASTROP) Whether you are a car enthusiast or a patriotic American, Historic Downtown Bastrop is the place to be on Veteran’s Day weekend for the 14th Annual Heroes & Hotrods Car Show Saturday, Nov. 9.
Hosted by the Bastrop Area Cruisers partnered with the City of Bastrop, Visit Bastrop, and Downtown Bastrop, the event has drawn in the past upwards of 430 car entrants surrounding a centrally-located platform on Main Street where veterans are recognized with special speakers, awards, and music.
