Stanberry Realtors® invite you to the Carnival for a Cure
(BASTROP) Stanberry Realtors® and their Bastrop agents have been anticipating and fundraising for the Carnival for a Cure, the 21st Annual Relay for Life event presented by Southern Bastrop County Relay for Life on Friday, May 17 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Friday’s event, with Stanberry Realtors® and Bastrop Agents being gold sponsors, takes place in Downtown Bastrop at Erhard Stadium on Hill and Cedar Street. Cancer survivors will be honored by taking the first lap around the track and with a reception tent while those who have lost their battle to cancer will be memorialized with the track-lined luminarias.
But this year’s Carnival for a Cure is unlike no other. Event-goers of all ages will be treated to the Carnival-like atmosphere with special treats such as carnival games, pie-eating, and dance contests, miniature putt-putt, bounce house, Kona shaved ice and other food.
Stanberry Realtors® has sponsored Relay for Life over the past 16 years. From the Bastrop office, Wanda Garcia, office manager, and Kelley Harris, agent, serve on this year’s Event Leadership Team. Garcia has served as accounting chair the past three years and is this year’s sponsorship co-chair.
“Stanberry is a company who believes in giving back and supporting our communities,” Garcia said. “Mr. Stanberry and others in our office are the lucky ones who have survived cancer.”
Southern Bastrop County Relay for Life by May 1 has raised $47,075 of their $100,000 goal and has 21 teams registered for Carnival for the Cure. Stanberry Bastrop has contributed to those totals not only through their sponsorship but also by hosting, at their office, a paint & sip and a garage sale. But perhaps one of their most anticipated event fundraisers is the bowling fundraiser held the first weekend in May with 14 teams, comprised of friends from the real estate community and others from the area.
At Carnival for the Cure, monies to help fund cancer research will continue to be generated with a silent auction, live auction, and raffles.
“Carnival for a Cure is a time to remember those we have lost to this terrible disease and honoring those who survived,” Garcia said. “We hope to see a lot of our community members on Friday night with happy faces and positive feedback as we get closer to our $100,000 goal.”
