Why you'd want to live in La Reata Ranch
La Reata Ranch was developed by Bluegreen Properties of the Southwest in 1999, creating a platted subdivision out of approximately 1,000 acres of a former ranch. Located about 15 minutes from Bastrop or Smithville on State Highway 304, the subdivision features 192 rolling, mostly-wooded lots, including oak, pine, cedar and many other species of plants and trees. Some lots include creeks or meadows. Some properties in La Reata Ranch are part of a Wildlife Management Program, qualifying for a 1D1 agricultural tax exemption. This Wildlife Management Program, along with saving the property owners on annual taxes, also encourages the owners to maintain the pristine beauty of the subdivision’s various plants, trees, flowers and animal population. A Property Owners Association, with a three member Board of Directors, oversees the development and management of the subdivision.
