La Reata Ranch was developed by Bluegreen Properties of the Southwest in 1999, creating a platted subdivision out of approximately 1,000 acres of a former ranch. Located about 15 minutes from Bastrop or Smithville on State Highway 304, the subdivision features 192 rolling, mostly-wooded lots, including oak, pine, cedar and many other species of plants and trees. Some lots include creeks or meadows. Some properties in La Reata Ranch are part of a Wildlife Management Program, qualifying for a 1D1 agricultural tax exemption.
