Why you'd want to live in Allandale
Allandale lies close-in and contains a wealth of older homes, stately trees, and historic buildings and sites from the city’s earliest expansion. The area is bounded by Mopac/Loop 1, Interstate 35, Highway 183, and FM 2222 (with a dip down to 45th Street to include the Rosedale neighborhood). Allandale includes several communities laid out on the city’s old grid and built around a series of neighborhood parks and green areas. These neighborhoods are close to downtown and well served. Allandale is laid back and spacious, but well cared for. Many homes have frontage on the quiet banks of Shoal Creek. In Rosedale, hip hangouts and boutiques are tucked in amongst medical infrastructure that makes up a large part of the area’s jobs. On North Lamar, apartment buildings share space with the quiet bars and modest shopfronts of the pre-boom Austin that first earned its hip but humble reputation.
