On the west side of Mopac Expressway (Loop 1) opposite Old West Austin, the Enfield and Tarrytown neighborhoods straddle Enfield Road out to the shores of Lake Austin. Portions of the land in Enfield are owned by the University of Texas, and the roomier, quieter apartments in the neighborhood are favored by graduate students and University staff. North of Enfield and reaching up to 35th Street, at the foot of the limestone bluffs of Mount Bonnell, Tarrytown sits along broad, winding streets.
